Our procedure involves a full inspection of the garment before and after cleaning. Garments are hand finished with pride then meticulously re-inspected for quality of pressing and stain removal. Broken buttons are replaced, torn seams are sewn and loose hems are stitched. Finally, garments are packaged to protect the quality of our craftsmanship during transport.

An almost inconceivable amount of thought and preparation goes into all the arrangements of a wedding, but few things are as painstakingly considered as the bridal gown. Sharing that magic with future generations is a rare gift that Parkers feels privileged to play a small part in with our bridal care and preservation services.
Your special occasion deserves special attention. Our extensive knowledge and experience related to caring for delicate bridal fabrics and intricate embellishments such as beads, and crystals coupled with using the highest quality products to preserve the gown makes us the premier choice for gown cleaning and preservation.
Each gown is meticulously pre-inspected layer by layer making note of tears, stains, conditions of the fabrics and embellishments. Stains and hemlines are pre-treated and a second inspection follows cleaning. The gown is hand finished by our skilled artisan and packaged to maintain its beauty and shape.
Long term preservation of textiles requires special knowledge and the proper materials in order to preserve the original color and integrity of the gown. We pride ourselves on our ability to offer true archival heirloom preservation- a technique commonly used by textile conservators in museums. Our process is extensive and our products are the finest. You won't find our preservation boxes used by other dry cleaners. Once cleaned, gowns that are being preserved are handled with white cotton gloves to prevent skin oils from depositing on the fabric. The gown is layered from inside out with acid and lignin free unbuffered tissue. It is then delicately placed in a 2 piece archival grade polymer chamber lined with a triple washed, unbleached cotton muslin liner which blankets the gown for further protection from dust, light, humidity and moisture. Unlike traditional cardboard, our water resistant chamber is free from acid, adhesives, lignin and dyes and provides a stable environment inside the box for the gown to rest in. Our preservation chests do not have a “window” that allow you to view the gown. Proper preservation involves wrapping the gown in its entirety with acid free tissue. If there are parts of the gown that are not wrapped, they are susceptible to yellowing over time. The closed (never sealed) chamber is further covered with a cotton muslin cover. The gown is returned to the bride with a pair of white cotton conservator gloves so it can be inspected without tainting the material with damaging skin oil. A storage instruction card is presented with every preservation in order to ensure our client is well versed in the storage and care necessary to maintain the beauty of the gown for decades to come.
This standard of care is also available for any other ceremonial garments such as christening gowns and communion dresses.
